Work Bright. Gather Warm.
From focused island pendants to whole-room ceiling fixtures, our kitchen picks balance task clarity with flattering color—so food, finishes, and faces all look their best.
Fast sizing & hanging (industry rules of thumb)
-
Island pendants: hang the bottoms ~30–36 in above the countertop; keep 24–30 in edge-to-edge between shades.
-
How many pendants? Two for 5–6 ft islands; three for ~7–9 ft. Aim for even spacing and keep ~6–12 in from island ends.
-
Linear chandelier length: about ½–⅔ of island length; leave ~6–12 in clearance at each end.
-
Ceiling fixtures: flush or semi-flush for general light; space to avoid shadows at counters and sink.
- Over-sink pendants: similar to island height—~30–36 in above the counter; keep glare below eye level.
Light quality & controls
-
Color: choose 2700–3000K LEDs and CRI 90+ for natural color on food and finishes.
-
Dimming: use compatible dimmers; set low-end trim to prevent flicker and dial in evening ambiance.
- Glare control: opal/linen shades or diffusers soften light at seated eye level; clear glass = brighter, crisper tasking.
Note: Most kitchens are dry-rated; select damp-rated near high-moisture zones if local code or placement calls for it.
